silhouette3.JPG From the desk of Mindles H. Dreck:

We've heard this song before

To the authors of the ridiculous letter published in the Guardian, I have only these lyrics, from the immortal Flanders & Swann. Perhaps they might consider using them in their next communication:

Some folk like music, some folk like tea, Some folk like women, they're not for me. Here is my motto, simple and terse: Everything;s lousy, and going to get worse! Oh, I wish Oh, I wish Man had never evolved from a fish. Oh, I wish I were dead, Wish I'd been dropped on my head, Broken my neck, lost the toss with a bull, Parachute jumped and forgotten to pull, Oh, I long to be dead, Wrapped in a casket of lead, Wish I'd been drowned in a barrel of stout, Dived off the pier when the tide was still out.

The grave, the grave,
Is a fine and private place,
The grave, the grave,
And who the hell wants to embrace?
I wish, I wish I were dead,
Laid out with a lilly in bed,
Wish that I'd drunk some carbolic for fun,
Tested the trigger while cleaning my gun,
Or just shrivelled up in the heat of the sun,
Oh, I wish I were dead, dead, dead,
Oh, I wish I were,
Oh, I wish I were,
Oh, I wish I were,
I wish I was dead.

P.S. - A "Spoken Word Artist" (see 'Saul Williams' among the signatories) is apparently a Poet.

That letter, while at once high and mighty, was essentially true. Blind faith in "leaders" will get you killed, as we have already seen. I don't give a shit what they to to the Arabiacs who perpatrate violence in the name of religion, but there was absolutely no use whatsoever for the so-called Patriot Act. The perps of that mess, including Bush, supposedly took an oath to defend the Constitution. That oath was violated and for that Bush should be impeached. Further Ashcroft should also be fired for scaring the shit out of everyone for political gain. These people are not Republicans. They are Facists of the first order and should be replaced by real Republicans, if you can find any anymore. And any notion that statements against Bush are somehow "treasonous" or "give comfort to the enemy" is un-American, totally without merit, and smacks of some kind of Commie USSR type shit. So Bush can take that radical form of Nazi-like politics that he preaches and go back to some Commie Land - like China or Cuber.

Thanks, Blackhorse, for a very entertaining post. Now I have to clean the coffee off my screen. You played the Fascist card! I just about herniated myself laughing at that one.

Have a heart, Jane. The Left publishing industry is a tough gig, and gets more competitive every day. Declining readership and a corresponding drop in sales revenue means these fellows have to advertise that much harder. Lucky for "Cambodia Boy" Chomsky that he's got the MIT gig.

A little compassion, why doncha. You'd feel a bit agitated too, if you'd been the one who was being increasingly called on, for active measures pieces you wrote decades ago. I mean, what do you tell the kids eh?

PS: Where's Gore Vidal? I'd have figured him a shoo-in for this shin-dig.
