Forbes is having a contest for best blog about the economy, and we aren't even listed. Boo-hoo. Nonetheless, there are some good choices there, such as the incomparable Lynn Kiesling, the excellent ArgMax, the formidable Arnold Kling, and fellow Chicago GSB-er Zimran Ahmed. So far, "none of the above" is winning, which I choose to interpret, on absolutely no evidence, as a tribute to the missing presence of www.janegalt.net on the list of choices. Anyone who suggests that the missing piece is actually Brad DeLong will be summarily executed.

About the economy?
ArgMax probably, since I see so many posts there about the latest twists and turns of the economy.
About economics, meaning the discipline itself? That's more difficult. Maybe Brad De Long's?
About the application of economics and economic thought to daily life? Several come to mind including AI.

*My* NOTA was a split between ArgMax and AI...
Thank you Brad -- although I would have exempted you from the execution threat. ;-)
What Arik told me when we talked was that when he visited AI recently it was more politics content than economics content, although I told him that my must-checks first thing every morning were Arnold Kling and AI!
I can't believe they snubbed both AI and SDJ. I like all the blogs listed, but voted NOTA out of protest.
Well, this was a wonderful blog way back when. I used to learn a lot of fascinating things about economics here. There's still occasionally an interesting post, and I'm certainly not complaining about the switch to war coverage. But these days it's mostly hot air about politics, straw man arguments against liberals, and the foreign policy you claim not to post ... These are things I can find in abundance, well, anywhere. This was a great blog because of it's focus, and now it's ... not.
I'll keep checking back every month or two so I can mine the interesting posts and skip the endorsements of torture. Was fun while it lasted.
unagi - as one who constructs his fair share of straw mans against liberals (and thus shares in the guilt), I have to say I totally agree with you.
Bring back Old School Jane!
Seriously, how can this be an economic blog if there haven't been a majority of articles on economics in months. Surely it isn't for a lack of interesting topics.
I plugged both AI and Brad DeLong to the reporter. He said that you guys don't stick closely enough to economic topics--plus he hates the way that Brad's posts go on for so long.
I think that the market has chosen AI and Brad DeLong as the top econ web sites. They are the two that I rely on the most.
My NOTA vote was for Brad; after would have been Daniel Davies (despite his low volume of posts), and then AI.
Hadn't heard of the others, at all.
Definitely Brad. AI isn't an ecomomics blog in any meaningful sense anymore. When ecomomics is discussed it's more of the strawman variety and actual discussion on the merits.
The first item in Hot Topics: is 'Idiotarians'. I think that says it all about your real focus.
Your post against supply side economics removed you from consideration.
If you had listened to me, you would have been best blog.
They did the same for FARK in the category News Blogs: None of the above won there, too.
LOL! Bones, did you even follow the link? The post that is getting that billing has the full title of "Idiotarians on the Right."
