silhouette3.JPG From the desk of Mindles H. Dreck:

Reptile picture post apparently lacking substance

I have absolutely nothing to say about collective insanity, tendency toward nastiness or ideological blindness of the Right/Left/Dems/Republicans. I've been accused of being all of the above yet simultaneously committing apostasy in every context.

Patiopundit, speaking on some other subject, claims to be of two minds about all of this. Well, how would he feel about this? And I don't even know where to begin (or end) when confronted with this.

Perhaps that last picture is a metaphor for...something.

UPDATE: A colleague emails me the following:

The image of a snake eating its own tail is called an "ourobourus", and it has extremely important hermetic/cabalistic meaning. The symbol is generally taken to refer to continual re-birth or re-generation of the universe (or, in some theories, the demand for senseless IT spending).

Special agent Scully on the X-files had an ourobourus tatto on her shoulder. Don't ask how I know that.

Ourobouros also has some significance in Adaptation.

Robert Nozick was pretty convinced that it symbolised autofellatio, and said so in a footnote.

The ouroboros was also the sigil of the Millennium Group on the late, great show MILLENNIUM.

Actually, the tatoo was on her ankle.

Now, I saw that episode a number of times and I could swear that Scully got that tattoo on the small of her back.

Is there a way to check this?

In the Appalachian region of Pennsylvania (known
as "Pennsyltucky"),this is called a Hoop Snake,
and is reputed to assume this configuration the
better to roll down hills toward children who
misbehave. Just as it reaches its victim, the evil
serpent uncoils from its hoop and speeds through
the air to bite its victim. I know this to be true
because Grandpap, he seen it once.

No representation of the flaming, undulating ring I've seen inside my eyebulb about 5 times in my life, starting as a point of sparkling, mescaloid light and expanding over the course of 12-25 minutes until it passes out of my field of vision at all extremes, having grown too large...

Nor was I able to find ANY graphic representation of the Demoblican-Republicrat Snake with Two Heads, an ugly, non-circular snake (except when its talking in circles) which has one head on the right end and one head on the wrong end... sorry, the left end, and talks out of both heads at the same time, leading the people to perdition with its slithery, aim-to-please, anything-for-a-vote campaign-speech type vocalizations.

I'm STILL looking...

And that's a small Eye Opener...

Scully's tattoo is definitely on the small of her back. The episode where she got the tatt is the one where the artist was mixing his own inks out of herbs and whatnot, including hallucinatory ones.

I think Scully's tattoo is the exact same ouroboros used as the symbol of Chris Carter's other show, Millenium.

That symbol is, in addition to the Kaballahists, used by a number of other sects in the levant, namely the Druze.

I thought Scully got the tattoo on her back, right above her (shapely) rear end?

My recollection (which isn't all that great anymore, admittedly) is that she got the snake encircling her ankle, and that later in the show she showed it to Mulder who wondered what had prompted such indecorous behavior from Scully.

Okay, I went and searched for it, it is on the small of her back (there's even a photo of the tattoo out there, finding it left as an excercise for the reader). I also found that Gillian Anderson (the person) has some ankle tattoos, so maybe that was the cause of the misfired synapses.
Now, be at peace, and sleep.
