Payroll numbers are released tomorrow morning, with much spinning to follow.
Someone just reminded me that the White House gets these releases early. Bush should know what Friday's numbers are when he speaks. The other thing to look for is last minute edits to mention Floridians facing Frances.

The economy definitely seems to be getting better. I await the numbers tomorrow, with some interest, in that I have now been unemployed for slightly more than three months. All I have is anecdotal evidence, but a friend who had been out of work for 16 months got a job in July, and my stepson, who had been out of work for slightly more than 8 months starts a new job on Tuesday.
There seem to be pockets, and certain skill sets, where the market is slow. The Dallas area seems to be much worse than Minneapolis. I had hid out there for the last three years, working on three different contracts. I figured that the market in Dallas was getting better, so I moved home, thinking I could roll into something pretty quickly. It has not happened, for whatever reason.
