silhouette3.JPG From the desk of Jane Galt:

Conspiracy theories ho!

Shots Across the Bow offers the twistiest conspiracy theory yet about the provenance of the memos.

My theory: Colonel Mustard. In the Bathroom. With 60 MInutes' reputation . . .

I like it! (of course, to declare my own self-interest, it would remove Hillary as my senator, too).

My theory of the time-travellers with the text-only archive was better. Besides, it's the only thing that can explain why all the energy of the TANG was apparently focussed on either covering up for the son of a two-term Congressman (Texas has many Congressmen), or covering themselves for the cover-up. It's almost as if they knew that Bush would be running for Prez one day!

Wow, now it's a vast left-wing conspiracy!

It's time to get out the tinfoil and line our hats, boys and girls. Better also start drinking only bottled water so we can "keep our precious bodily fluids pure"!

I believe that this is the work of a Jayson Blair/Stephen Glass/David Brock type. No conspiracy, just a Fabulist, some bad fakes, and Captain Dan.

I beat him to it. I predicted back on September 9th:

I'll promote the conspiracy theory of the week here & now. This sloppy forgery was created and put forth by HRC operatives to torpedo the Kerry campaign, giving HRC a shot at the White House in 2008.
