Blogging will be light this weekend. Tomorrow marks the official announcement that I am one year closer to death, and I'll be spending the weekend in appropriate commemorative activities.

Happy Birthday (thump)
Oh, Happy Birthday (thump)
People dying everywhere
Sickness sorry and despair
On your Birthday (thump)
Oh, Happy Birthday (thump)
One day closer to your death

If it's depressing to think you become a whole year closer to death on your birthday, it might cheer to think of it this way instead. Every second that the clock ticks, every beat of your heart, every breath you take, it all brings you closer to the pitiless, featureless, endless void.
Enjoy the commemorative activities.
Happy Birthday!
Don't think of it as getting closer to your death. Think of it as managing to continue breathing for another year - no small feat.
Happy one-day-closer-to-death day to you!
Happy one-day-closer-to-death day to you!
Happy one-day-closer-to-death day, dear Megaaaaaan....
Happy one-day-closer-to-death day to you!
Just think of it this way - it is better than the alternative!
Wurlitzer,
You beat me to it! I'm so happy you sang the traditional Dartmouth b-day song!!!!!
Happy Birthday Meg. At least your still in the early stages of your third decade. I'm facing MID thirties starting in May.
Every birthday is a victory over nothingness. Celebrate.
Think of it as giving writer's block to the lady who runs the obituaries column.
I'd congratulate you, but is being closer to death really better?
Being not-already-dead is good, though, so "Yay for you!".
Does this mean you don't want all your prezzies or your yummy cake? Cuz I'll take 'em!
Happy b-day!
Inquiring minds want to know: are you shorter of breath?*
*Yes, I know that the lyric is "Shorter of breath/And one day closer to death."
Happy Birthday. But isn't that a gloomy way of looking at it? Have fun. Linking you now in my brand new blog: bothworlds.typepad.com

Pink Floyd's "Time" is the first thing that popped into my head as well:
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in the relative way, but you're older
And shorter of breath and one day closer to death
They do get a little depressing after 30, but try to banish the unpleasant thoughts and have a great birthday!
You're older than you've ever been,
And now you're even older,
and now you're even older,
and now you're even older.
You're older than you've ever been,
and now you're older still!

Every day in every way I'm getting deader and deader!
Happy b-day Janey.
BTW, if you're down you can cheer up with pictures of a dog who loves a fawn. (Scroll past the photoshopped Olsens.)
All together now: awwwww.
Happy Birthday! Here's hoping that you blow out all your candles and get your wish. ^_~
To your intelligence, wit, compassion, crystal-clear style and no-nonsense acumen.
And in one so young.
Many happy returns.

Happy Birthday, Megan! Keep "bringing it" as long as you're able to dodge the Grim Reaper!
Happy Birthday!
You are also one year closer to your retirement, and one year farther away from all the tribulations, humiliations, and/or assorted horrors you may have endured during your childhood and youth.
Not to mention, that depending upon your choices in the upcoming year, you may actually end up signficantly farther away from your death one year from now than you are now.
Have fun!
Happy Birthday Megan. You'll always be twenty-nine as far as I'm concerned. :P
Belated happy birthday! I am delighted to note that you have the excellent taste to have the same birthday as I. No doubt, however, that you are far younger and much more gorgeous.
A belated happy birthday--just one year wiser and more joyful!Have fun
