I'm looking for a London sublet for part of March, running through at least April and possibly May. Being a journalist, I'm on a budget . . . no corporate apartments or hotels for me. This seems to be considerably harder to find in London than it is in New York, at least so far. Can any of my readers point me in the right direction?

They live in London.
I may know someone who can help; how far are you prepared to commute?

Err East?
You may want to check out http://www.moveflat.com. It's mainly a flatsharing site (London's housing is so expensive that a lot of people share, present company included) but they do list some flats for rent on both a short- and long-term basis.
I've had good luck with www.craigslist.org for temporary apartments in Toronto and Paris. They have a London page too.
If I were a single man living in London, I'd invite you to stay with me.
However, I am neither. But I'll second Brian's opinion. Craig has done quite well for me a number of times.
I AM a single man living in London. I happen to know some people near where I live who are going on holiday around that time. E-mail me if interested - maybe I can act as matchmaker. It's quite an expensive area - that's the only thing.
Wow, you're going overseas to live. I didn't know you spoke another language.
Have fun in London. Now your mildly annoying habit of using British spellings will at least be justified while you're there :)
You could get a job at CNN. I understand they need a new boss and they pay well.
Seriously,
My wife and I have done very well with an outfit called yourstay.com. Excellent flats all over London for the same or less as a mid-range hotel. We stayed in Mayfair for a week for about GBP 1400. Give them a call, they have specials every week.
I know my folks have often "traded" apartments with people when they traveled overseas for a month or more. We used to do this for short periods when I was a kid. I could get a hold of the web-sites that have those types of listings if you want.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noutices that. It comes and goes, too. It's awful. Sorry.
Check Craigslist London. anything you need you can find there.
