An alarming breed?

Let me just second Matthew Yglesias here. There is nothing the world needs more than "ivy-educated Instapundits". It's regrettable that we're not getting more of them from really top-flight schools like Penn, but frankly, when the need is as dire as this, we'll have to take what we can get.

You think Penn's supply is bad? Columbia's a barren wasteland. I smell a market opportunity.

My irony sensor's on the blink... somebody, anybody, is Jane serious? I find myself puzzled. I hate that, but it's probably good for me; nothing like a bunch of people way smarter than I am to inject some perspective. So, one of you smart folk, please enlighten!

On the other hand Dartmouth seems to be doing pretty well.

Well, we're a teeny tiny blog, but Loki is a Penn grad. I think Penn people just don't tend to bring it up. Maybe they're embarrassed?

Is Penn still in the Ivy League? I thought left for a conference something more its speed, like the Big 10 or SEC or something.

Members of Philadelphia institutions don't showboat. (We give the Wharton undergrads an exemption for the sake of our endowment.)

If, however, being a Penn-educated Instapundit means a 100K book deal, I can be persuaded to do a little shameless self-promotion.
