She showed me her flag, isn't it good Lebanese wood?

It's the Babes in Beirut channel. All-hot-Lebanese-women-waving-flags-all-the-time! Talk about your niche media.

But there definitely isn't anything wrong with that!

Those three shots are of the same people, two women total.

The earlier pic was clearly staged.

OTOH, the last three are from AFP so if anything they're probably less indicative than more.

I'm pro hot chicks, regardless of nationality or ethnic origin. I'm an equal opportunity PIG. ;/

Is this a Labanese version of College Girls Gone Wild?...where are the veils and head coverings? The mullas must be seething at the sight of cheek bones.

But staged for what purpose, Lone? Staged to show a pro-democracy gathering that wasn't taking place, or to put a beautiful face on one that was? There's a big difference.

I can't wait to see next month's Playboy. The babes of Beirut will be showing their all so that freedom can reign. Gosh, this democracy stuff can be so much fun.

Democracy, Whiskey, Sexy, baby.

You know, this is probably the secret weapon to whup the jihadists. Give angry young Muslim men mostly-wholesome young democratic-liberal Muslim hotties to focus their attention on instead of Bin Laden's All-Male Death-Cult Circle-Jerk. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Let's look at the bylaws of the National Press Photographers' Association www.nppa.org

-- BEGIN --
Code of Ethics

Photojournalists and those who manage visual news productions are accountable for upholding the following standards in their daily work:

1. Be accurate and comprehensive in the representation of subjects.
2. Resist being manipulated by staged photo opportunities.
...
-- END --

The first picture (referenced in my previous comment) appeared to be staged, along the same lines as the people who hold up ABC signs during MNF. Whether it was propaganda and who staged it is left open.

"Democracy, Whiskey, Sexy, baby."

Oh my goodness, now everybody knows why I’ve always supported President Bush’s war on terror. It had nothing whatsoever to do with the eradication of Islamic nihilism or weapons of mass destruction. Sadly, I must candidly admit the real reason behind my ulterior motives: it was the babes! I am a low life degenerate and the advancement of freedom in the Middle East would provide me with more pictures of pretty girls.

As a visitor -- in the mid sixties -- to pre-civil war Lebanon let me assure all that old Bierut was loaded with attractive flirtatious women.

Most responders are assuming the women are Muslim. They are probably all Christians as were the bikini clad babes I ogled at a Bierut swimming pool years ago.

I stand (somewhat) chastened, Lone... On the matter of journalistic ethics, of COURSE the photo shouldn't have been staged. I assumed that if it was, it was staged by the people participating in the demo, rather than the photographer. I know that if I were running a demonstration that I hoped would achieve news prominence, I'd try to get photogenic or otherwise interesting (as in, "son of deposed leader" kind of thing) people to do the things likely to be photographed. Is it manipulative? Yes... but it doesn't seem like a mortal sin, to me, if the photogenic people are in fact part of the movement/organization/whatever. Paid pretty people are another matter.

Wasn't it P. J. O'Rourke who said that the winning political movements are the ones that draw the most attractive women?

As I am 25% Lebanese myself, I say 'hurray' for both freedom and women.

The earlier pic was clearly staged.

Uhhh, why is it "clearly staged"?
