Well, we've had a fair number of takers on the pound cake offer--though I notice that not all of you who cited our blog at the Truth Laid Bear have mailed in for your pound cake. Remember, I need your address to send it to you, so just logging in at the Bear's is insufficient.
For all you crafty types out there--where do I buy tins to mail the pound cakes in? I assume that there must be somewhere that sells them, but I'm not sure where. I have access to a car to reach suburban malls, if there are suitable stores out in the great wild beyond the Hudson.

Or try Fish's Eddy (76th and Broadway, or 78th or something). I saw cookie cans/tins there last month that would work for pound cake, even if they did have a whole wacked out 'Martha Stewart on Crack' motif. Maybe they're still there.
I would personally Saran-Wrap the hell out of them and then let the clever folks at my local "Mailboxes etc." (or the like) figure it out. Especially if it's a lot of cakes.

Wal*Mart or Target have tins. Or any store that caters to kitchen stuff. My fallback is usually candy or cookie tins (Snickers, etc.). Empty the tins, give away the candy, fill with whatever. You'll find a lot of times that full tins are very close in price to empty ones.
You could also try Michael's, the arts and crafts chain. I think there's one on Staten Island.
Thrift stores usually have dozens of them for a quarter or 50 cents.
Can't you just Saran Wrap, aluminium foil and then post them in a suitable box?
Whatever you do, hurry up because I'm hungry!
google "tin containers" - my fiancee ordered 300 for a project and you can find companies that make them bulk. Pretty ridiculous - but it's cheaper than retail.
I thought this was the bash-Bush website? We don't want to help anybody. We just want to revile anyone with any responsibility. Stop changing the subject!
Hey, if I can only give $50 does that mean I can get half a cake?
I second Amy's suggestion of Michael's. Their website shows stores in Woodside, Rosedale, Manhasset, Paramus, and a couple in Staten Island.
I'd also suggest Jo-Ann's stores, but in my experience the smaller stores carry mostly sewing and fabric stuff. The nearest Jo-Ann's Superstore is up in West Nyack.
If you can find some tins at a dollar store, I think you'd get a better price than Michael's or Jo-Ann's, fwiw. If your pound cake recipients can wait a little while, you'll probably see more tins as the holidays approach.
