Hey - I survived too, Glenn. First Nikon-centrism, now this? And I'm tall and leggy as well. But I'm also "bony and blotchy and covered with hair", which probably explains the oversight.
Speaking of my co-blogger and Scotsmen, I'm surprised Jane hasn't commented on this.

The real reason is that tall people have much better chances of suceeding in our society. THe relationship between earnings and height is so classical it is usually taught in begin statistics classes as an example of non linear regression.

A lot of people (including me) believe Lakoffs theories about metaphor and height. (I hear the DNC's next slate consists of a basketball team, after all, it worked for Ottowa.)
On the other hand, after decades of watching CSPAN, I suspect people will follow anyone they don't think they can "take" in a fight.
Steven, perhaps it's the other way around, regardless of Glenn's intentions. Perhaps why Mindless doesn't post often is the misattribution of posts to Megan. I know I've been surprised to scroll back up and find the author.
The article says "Shorter women tended to be more maternal and homely". Did they mean "homely", or "homey"? My wife is going to be very offended if that was not a typo.
