I got the Vaio

Yes, I know, I am a disgrace to true technical people everywhere. I shall turn in my badge. In my defense, it's not just pretty, but also has the best combination of size and weight for what I want to do. Which is drag it with me everywhere.

Its a good choice. Please do report back you experiences with it on the road.

We've come a long way since the days of the sewing machine sized compaq "portable" to the small an elegant vaio havent we?

I will pipe up to add a rare assent to the proprietress's choice of computer. We've used Vaios for a while and they seem like a decent choice: not too much custom hardware or software cruft; pretty resilient; not too expensive.

I've always liked my Vaio better than my Toshiba. The fact that it looks good is just a bonus.

Sounds good to me - if it fits your criteria, it's a good choice for you!

And, honestly, Sony makes some excellent hardware, though they're just not a name I turn to for PCs (perhaps because some of the early Vaios were pretty funky). I just got a PSP, however, and I'm thoroughly impressed, especially considering the platform's age.

(My next laptop will still be a MacBook, but of course I've been running Macs along with my PCs for a decade and a half...)

is running xp or vista?

Posted by: judson on March 8, 2007 3:27 PM

Vista. So far so good.

Posted by: Jane Galt on March 8, 2007 4:02 PM

Is it true that Vista requires mighty cpu engines, great echoing halls of RAM, and hard disk space limited only by the light of a distant star, while still being strangely reluctant to play all legally and quasi-legally acquired music, quickly and easily, this due to the machinations of the dreaded Trolls of DRM and their fetid lackeys, the Lawyers of RIAA?

Put another way, how juiced is that device?

I suggested a Think Pad, but my wife has a Vaio, and it's been really nice. You'll like yours.
