Daniel Drezner and I went on Bloggingheads yesterday to discuss MySpace pages, short shorts, and the problems of Venezuelan oil.

It was a great diavlog! I was wondering when you'd make it back on there.
I enjoyed the show. You and Dan had great chemistry.
Two things stuck in my mind:
1. You can take my SUV when you pry the keys from my cold, dead fingers. My reasons are utterly practical. In the last year I've used ot to haul a fridge, office furniture, make a trip from Atlanta to Pensacola - complete with bikes, beach stuff, clothes, holiday impedimenta. Plus, it's great for Costco/Sam's Club runs, *and* I can haul most of my work group to lunch in it.
2. (Leaning on the Irish connection...) I grew up just outside Galway. My parents are now both dead, my sisters are in various suburbs around Boston, and I'm in Atlanta. I've left everyone behind, and don't expect to die surrounded by childhood friends. This is not necessarily a bad prospect, as my move to the US derived the world of a village drunk (the Irish are driven demented by the religion and the weather, and self-medicate on ethanol), and the South is perfect for an Irishman: it's warm and sunny, people are generally well-mannered, it's laid-back, but has enough of American get-up-and-go to get you up and going.
Anyway, thanks for the show,
Patrick

Megan,
You have a HUGE crush on Daniel. Its pretty obvious :) very cute.
the part about "say hi to your wife" seals it. you know what i am talking about.
You wore short shorts in college--a time when you were on the extreme left.
A question: when you received compliments from your male classmates, did you angrily and shrilly accuse them of "psychologically" raping you and file sexual harrassment charges against them with the dean?
Or perhaps, in those days, you considered shaving your legs (or applying Nair to them), "a male tool of oppression," and thus did not receive such compliments?
Are heads supposed to move on bloggingheads? Cause I am on dialup (shush, I'm underprivileged), and the heads just sat there as pictures.
As for the content, pretty interesting. I was skeptical of the concept, but I could see actually cleaning my house while listening. Kind of like an episode of Charlie Rose, except with two people allowed to talk. Also the dynamic between the two is interesting- who talks over whom or cuts off another's theoretically funny end point. Overall pretty smooth interaction on this one.
Oh, and I think it's good when a blogger occasionally mentions something personal. It humanizes the writer, though you never want to know too much.
Can't believe people sent emails trying to hook up with Megan during her life changes. I am shocked! Shocked! She has cool hair on bloggingheads. Though, again, the heads just sat there. (And much "buffering" on dialup).
Megan, I'm still in the process of watching it, but it seems good. Missed a bunch while I was getting breakfast ready for tomorrow and I had to rewind, you were just getting into gas prices (haven't listened to it yet). I have to throw this out here (I also put it out to Caplan and Mankiw): This week I've noticed with higher gas prices traffic has become worse (I know that's not the main reason, there's a lot of construction though I don't see it on my route). There's something to this though, call it the Myth of the Rational Driver. It casts slight doubt on the Pigou Club (yeah, it's anecdotal ), but I'm pretty sure it's real.
It feels odd to see your face, Megan. I'm trying to
decide whether this makes it easier or harder to
talk to you.
I have the terrible suspicion it makes it harder.
I'm married. (Thank god.) So I'm somewhat immune.
But I think you've stirred things up. Which may
explain D-----, for instance.
It's not fully launched, but it looks like you're all over MySpace

Enjoyed the content but I have to admit I really don't like the format. I'd rather just read it.
Next time, each of you should be shot in profile so it looks like you are talking to each other.
Make sure to coordinate beforehand though.
re: immigration, yes 15% were foreign born in 1915, but 1915 isn't 2007. additionally, there was a 40 year period of very low immigration between 1925 and 1965 after that peak.
Shame on you for using a tawdry reference to "short shorts" to lure people into watching your video!
I can't resist, though....
