I very much enjoyed this headline/blurb from the New York Times:

A battle of will between a warlord accused of killing 36 people and a sociology professor has emerged as an early test of Afghanistan's nationhood.
All right, I'm not saying I'd want to eat at the same lunch counter with one, and I sure as heck wouldn't want my sister marrying one of 'em. But If you prick a sociology professor, does he not bleed? If you tickle him, does he not laugh? If you poison him, does he not die?
