Seriously, as an Australian it reminds me of when the state of Victoria had estate taxes, and Queensland did not. Result was 1000 high net worth individuals PER WEEK moving to Queensland. Victoria eventually gave up trying to fight and dropped the death tax.
Posted by: Patrick on May 19, 2003 06:52 PMI pity the poor soul who moves to New Jersey for the lower taxes and smaller bureaucracy. It's like moving from the Ninth to the Eighth Circle of Hell.
Posted by: jdhays on May 20, 2003 09:43 PMNew York City citizens prefer listening to politicians lying to them about free lunches. They are similar to alcoholics who have yet to hit bottom. These folks are barely ready to admit the need to buy a cheaper brand of beer. Unfortunately, they won’t likely listen to common sense until compelled to drink sterno strained through a dirty sock mixed with coca cola!
