>>'Blob' May Be Giant Octopus or Whale Blubber

By Louise Egan

SANTIAGO, Chile (Reuters) - Scientists said on Wednesday a huge mass of slimy flesh that washed up on a Chilean beach last week may be a rare type of giant octopus or just discarded whale blubber.

The blubber option would be something of a letdown, but giant octopus would be cool.

How can it be "either giant octopus or discarded whale blubber???" As if there was no real discernable difference between the two.

By those reporting standards it could also be mucus dripped from the nose of the great green arklesiezure... evidence of the coming of the great white hanky... cower in fear!
