After two years of the proverbial "blogging from her parents basement", I've finally found a new home, into which I will be moving on October 1. I will finally be leaving the Upper West Side for the wilds of . . . Park Slope.

Posted by: Kate on September 15, 2003 01:37 PMCongrats Megan, but doesn't this mean a longer walk in the next blackout?
Posted by: PJ/Maryland on September 15, 2003 03:29 PMOK, that's cleared up. Now will you tell us where you've hidden Mindles?
Posted by: Joseph K on September 15, 2003 04:04 PMActually, now that I've thought about it I want to know when the housewarming party is going to be...
Posted by: Kate on September 15, 2003 04:13 PMWhat happened to the Foreign Service? Or is this a consular posting?
Posted by: Mike Brennan on September 15, 2003 04:32 PMJane hasn't said anything more about the Foreign Service, and I respect her privacy. If I were to guess I'd say they just took too long. A friend of mine from high school passed her exams the same day Jane did, and she's just this month finally getting officially hired and moving to Washington for training. Jane's had her new job for a while now.
Posted by: Katherine on September 15, 2003 05:55 PMCongratulations. There's no place like home.
Now where the heck is this Park thingy?

Posted by: James R. Rummel on September 15, 2003 08:40 PMYou're in my youngest daughter's neighborhood now. Lots of hippies, should be fun.
Posted by: Richard Bennett on September 15, 2003 09:17 PMLots of lesbians too. Maybe the question should be, who's the lucky girl?
The Slope's a great neigborhood. Used to live on St. John's.

Posted by: Terry on September 16, 2003 01:58 PMWelcome to the neighborhood. Let me know if you need any orientating. And don't forget to change your nycbloggers listing!
Posted by: Ish on September 16, 2003 02:05 PMI know some people who picked up a Park Slope brownstone back in the seventies for thirty grand. Wish my parents had done the same.
Posted by: Brian on September 16, 2003 05:50 PMWelcome to the outer boroughs! Goodbye, "Sex in the City," hello Archie Bunker ;)
(What's sad is, a house like Archie's, in his old neighborhood, is worth a quarter of a million dollars now).
Posted by: Crank on September 16, 2003 05:55 PMCongrats on the Slope thing. The Park Slope Food Co-op is the PS equivalent of Zabar's, Seb.
Posted by: Frankenstein on September 16, 2003 06:23 PMGood luck with service on the F train getting to and from Manhattan (and beware the million-step transfer at Fourth Ave. if you try to switch to the Broadway line there).
