I have just been informed that Asymmetrical Information has just been nominated for "Best Top 100 Blog". If you love me, you'll go over there and vote for me right now. You do love me, don't you? Because I love you. And if you didn't vote for me . . . if I lost . . . I'd be so heartbroken the tears would just pour right out of my big green eyes and down my porcelain cheeks . . .

There. I voted.
Now will you marry me?
Posted by: Bill R on December 2, 2004 06:51 PMIf you'd endorsed Kerry I'd certainly think about it. I visited the site, but I didn't vote as none of them had a "None of the above" option.

Cripes. It's like watching an episode of The Apprentice. Obviously, as a Dem, I'm uncomfortable with women using their allure to get ahead; given Fox New's Dhue, et. al., this is not a problem that Pubs suffer.
But I do love your (and bad-back Mindles's) blog. So I'll vote for you anyway. You and the rest of your audience can consider this an object lesson on how to vote appropriately and reasonably even when the person isn't on your side of the aisle. Maybe make a note of it for Nov. '08.
Posted by: SomeCallMeTim on December 2, 2004 07:06 PMThis would've been much more effective with a picture. Although I have to say that this image clashes with your alleged ever-effervescence.
Posted by: fling93 on December 2, 2004 07:55 PMMan, why does anybody care about this contest? There's no way the results can be that representative of reality if Marginal Revolution isn't on there anywhere. Sheesh.
I voted for Drezner, BTW. I would've picked you as my 2nd choice, but the stupid poll uses plurality voting. You can go ahead and cry, but you're creaming him anyway.
Posted by: fling93 on December 2, 2004 08:11 PMThe best way to encourage people to vote for you is to post nude pictures of some hot chick and claim it's you. Not that you aren't a hot chick, mind you, I'm just saying that's what the people want.
Posted by: Richard Bennett on December 2, 2004 08:28 PMOK I voted for you, twice. Now my dead grandmother, dog and Mary Poppins are going to vote for you. wink-wink
Posted by: typical democrat on December 2, 2004 11:01 PMThis talk of Galt images smacks of primitive exploitation of female pulchritude. Why not demand reader support at the polls, backed by the threat of posting undraped photos of Glenn Reynolds?
Posted by: Axel Kassel on December 2, 2004 11:03 PMWill Mindles cry, too?
(I voted for you before I came here, anyway. Now go vote for me!)
Posted by: Crank on December 2, 2004 11:25 PMThere's your vote. Now get off my lap and be a nice kid until next Christmas.
Posted by: RON on December 3, 2004 01:10 AMYou're shameless!

Yeah, okay, I'm going there now...
You and the rest of your audience can consider this an object lesson on how to vote appropriately and reasonably even when the person isn't on your side of the aisle. Maybe make a note of it for Nov. '08.
You and the rest of your ilk can consider AI's candidacy as an object lesson on how to field a a party who is appropriate and reasonable, even when the playboys of wealthy heiresses are clammoring to be escorted up the aisle. Maybe make a note of it for Nov. '08.

This is precisely and completely the reason that George Bush won the election.
"You and the rest of your audience can consider this an object lesson..."SCTM, are you physically capable of not being a jackass? Ever? Posted by: Paco Wové on December 3, 2004 08:36 AM
Paco:
Initially, I was inclined to suggest you buy a sense of humor, but it looks like a lot of the Insta-readers took it as more than a jokey self-caricature. Maybe I should have inserted a "heh".
I think it's a 50-50 proposition whether this misinterpretation is a result of me vastly mis-overestimating (heh) my ability to communicate humor or a function of the likelihood that Pubs don't have a sense of humor (heh). (Heh). But in the new spirit of outreach(heh), I'll assume the fault was mine. Most of the comment was a mild joke, on me as a "flaming lib Dem" commenter on this site- I was, in fact, caricaturing myself. I made it in response to what I took to be a self-caricature by Jane (the crying eyes bit). The only part that was at all serious was that I think this is a very good blog and I did vote for it.
Oh, please go back and read a "heh" into the text just after "buy a sense of humor". Thanks.
Posted by: SomeCallMeTim on December 3, 2004 10:28 AMTim,
Just for the record, I've never thought of you as a flaming lib. You at least acknowledge most of the "facts" that are out there, even if we differ on the interpretation and hence have different opinions. For flaming libs on this site I would have to nominate Begbee.
Posted by: Rex on December 3, 2004 01:31 PMThere, there. It'll be okay. You're a winner inside even if your blog loses.
I actually voted for you before I even saw you ask, though.
Posted by: Sigivald on December 3, 2004 01:35 PMO.K, what is the distinction between "Best Overall Blog" and "Best of the Top 100"?
It seems to me that these catagories are not mutually exclusive. Not that it makes me unhappy as I was able to vote for both Belmont Club in one and AI in the other.
Posted by: Joe Bagadonuts on December 3, 2004 02:27 PMI fear not even Karl Rove would be able to help me against that campaign pitch.... sigh.
[It worked on me!!--ed.]
Posted by: Daniel Drezner on December 4, 2004 10:27 AMI'd vote for you if you just gave me one goddamned picture. Just, you know, a nice smiling shot. I hate the disembodied feeling of not knowing who I'm reading/voting for.
Posted by: blah on December 4, 2004 12:55 PMNot that I wouldn't vote for you, but since LGF was #1 in overall blogs last I checked, I'd feel as if I were actually doing you a disservice by voting. Ha, as if your tears could change my mind.
For those who feel bad that think they can't vote more than once, I believe you're allowed to vote once every 24 hours...
Posted by: Steve on December 4, 2004 04:39 PMAnd the picture that made the final cut is up at TCS.
Reminds me to go vote again.
Posted by: Karl on December 4, 2004 11:20 PMDD says you're playing dirty ... "very dirty". In fact he's being downright pathetic about the whole thing.
If I do vote for you, it will be on merit and not the drop-dead gorgeous looks, OF COURSE.
Oh, all right, maybe it will a bit ...
Posted by: Dave F on December 6, 2004 01:47 PMActually, a much better reason to vote for Ms. McArdle is that (as she's noted previously) she's 6 feet tall, and it might be dangerous to cross her.
