Incidentally . . .

For those who complained that I hadn't told you I was moving, I'm only in London for three months. I've started a new position with my company, but once I've got my feet wet I'll be returning to the Big Apple. So it's not really that big a deal . . . except that I still haven't figured out how to make all my appliances work.

nice to hear you are over the flu, back to writing, and living in London. Hope it all goes wonderfully--just when you get the appliances down, you will discover another kind of plug--I think there are 9 types in all.

Will be in touch if I come your direction--But enjoy!!!

I hope none of your appliances are US-style 110V only. You won't be able to use them on the 220V English current. Some can be switched over, but you have to check.

Enjoy London. Three months is about enough, then it becomes a grind -- the Tube, the grime, the miserable faces ... I did 13 years of it (in the newspaper industry) before heading back to Cape Town. I still miss the Charing Cross Road bookshops though.

English electrical devices? Only solution I ever found was a hammer. Doesn’t make them work any better but makes you feel better hitting them.
